Description
We’d love to welcome your Cubs group to The Farm Shed for a private lamb feeding visit for 16 children.
The visit will last around 2 hours including lunch and gives the children the chance to enjoy a fun, hands-on farm experience with our bottle-fed lambs, while also learning a little more about life on a working Yorkshire farm.
What the visit includes
-
A private visit for 16 children
-
Supervised lamb feeding with our bottle-fed lambs
-
A simple, age-appropriate introduction to the lambs and how they are cared for
-
Time for photos during the visit
-
Use of toilet and handwashing facilities.
-
Support from Festive Farm Shed staff throughout the session
-
Children can paint either a wooden bunny or a wooden egg to take home
-
Planting vegetable seeds. This can also be added to the visit and is included free of charge
-
Just about Lunches. For everyone’s safety, we’d prefer the children eat in the log cabin, weather permitting, rather than at the tables in the shed. The log cabin can seat half the group at a time.
We don’t usually allow food and drink in the shed while the animals are in there, as there are public health guidelines around eating in the same space as animals, and we’re not currently set up for that.
Hope that’s okay. I’ll send you a photo of the log cabin asap x
As discussed already, the lamb feeding will need to be done in split sessions for 8 children doing lamb feeding at a time while the other children do crafts. Perhaps we could do similar with the lunch break and the children could do an egg hunt / planting vegetables and swap over.
Typical visit structure
The session will usually include:
-
Welcome and introduction
-
Lamb feeding
-
A short farm talk and chance to ask questions
-
Time for photos
-
Optional craft or planting activity if chosen
The exact running order may vary slightly depending on the weather, the lambs and the needs of the group on the day.
Important information
-
Childminders and accompanying adults are responsible for supervising the children at all times
-
Festive Farm Shed staff will support the activities but will not be left alone with children or vulnerable adults
-
We recommend children come in suitable outdoor clothing and Wellington boots
Our staff have DBS checks and please let me know if you need to see liability insurance (NFU).
